What Are You Doing On February Vacation?


Hey guys,

Now that the kiddies are off of school, you may be scrambling for some fun stuff to do outside. Here are a few ideas that you may want to check out!

  1. Snowman-making Record Attempt: On Wednesday, February 23rd from 12-3pm, BradleyPalmer State Park will be hosting an event to build the most snowmen in the state! Families are encouraged to build their own designs alone or in teams. DCR will be have fires to roast marshmallows and hot chocolate. They also recommend that you pack a lunch.   2. Winter Fun Day: Harold Parker State Forest is hosting a fun family event from 11-2pm on Tuesday, February 22 which includes guided hikes with the rangers and hot chocolate. Snowshoes and skis are encouraged for this out. REI is also offering rentals.
  3. Movie Nights at Breakhart: DCR is hosting fireside movies at the reservation, co-sponsored by the Friends of Breakhart Reservation. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their PJs and to bring a blanket for a free, G-rated night out. For more details on dates and times,click here.
  4. George’s Island Winter Fortress: On Saturday, February 26th starting at 10am, DCR has boats leaving from Boston and Quincy for outdoor family adventures out on George’s Island. While you’re there, check out the new visitor’s center and exhibits about the history of the island.
  5. Joppa Flats Activity Sessions: Mass Audubon is hosting a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities during February vacation week. Each day is a different theme. On Tuesday, February 22, the program will focus on art activities, group games and experiments with Penguins & the South Pole. On Wednesday, it’s Polar Bears and the Artic, and Thurday is Tropical Beach Biology.
